Water level elevations in piezometers 1 (-2.6 cm on scale), 2 (-2.1 cm) and 3 (-1.2) cm are lower
than elevation of the water table (+0.4 cm) due to downward flow and associated energy consumption.
Higher permeability along piezometer 3 requires less energy consumption per unit length than lower
permeable material along piezometer 2. In this case there exists strong downward flow while nearly
equal water levels in piezometers 2 and 3 may suggest lateral groundwater flow from the left to right
if only a simplistic interpretation was made.
